Finding Usable Media Assets
We need a bunch of curated collections of media for different purposes.
Usable Media Sources are libraries that we can use.
Contents
What is Usable[edit]
“Usable” means legally usable. This means:
- Committed to the Public Domain and certifiably so. Something explicitly says “this is in the Public Domain.”
or
- In the Creative Commons (has an explicit “CC-” license)
- and allows us to use it.
To be safe, even though we're basically “non-commercial,” this means we can use anything that does not have a “-NC” tag on it (the crossed-out dollar sign)
Establishing Provenance[edit]
If you find a file, we have to assume that we can not use it, until proven otherwise.
We need a provenance document, and it has to be posted to the Wiki-Wiki.
This can be a Dedication or a License.
See Template:Dedication or Template:License to store one.
Storing Assets[edit]
If you're “harvesting” media assets like this, contact the Builder Toots to find out where to put them. We don't have a good process in place right now, it's kind of ad hoc.
(These things will mostly get stuck on jumbo.tootsville.adventuring.click for now.)
