The one and only actual Systems Administrator for Tootsville in its history. Also an amazing guy, co-author of “The Book” on Internet Protocol (version 6), and User:BRFennPocock's Best Man at his wedding.

History

When User:BRFennPocock was promoted from his initial job (embedded systems programmer (for the Robo Toots plan) and database administrator and systems administrator and toolchain programmer and …) to Chief Engineer, he had to give up being the only Systems Administrator. Luckily for Tootsville, Qui-Gon Gene was available, and took over.

He cleaned up the infrastructure, instituted the Beta.Tootsville.Com system and A-Roll, B-Roll protocols, and created a number of tools for internal use, particularly, simplifying the Design department's processes so that they could add things to the game without as much hand-holding from the programmers.

Gene remained “on call” with Res Interactive, LLC until … the company went under, perhaps? — he had definitely stayed with them through 2011 at least, on at least a part-time basis.

Other Appearances

Gene also appears in Wasteland 2

He also helped write this book. https://www.safaribooksonline.com/library/view/ipv6-essentials-3rd/9781449335229/pr03.html
